- The Philco model 40-165 series includes three different consoles. Model 40-165F has four vertical bars in front of the speaker grill. Model 40-165K (early version) has three vertical bars in front of the speaker, and a flat panel front just above the speaker grill. Model 40-165K (late version) also has three bars, but the panel just above the speaker has a strip of horizontal fluted molding, as well as other minor changes. All three models have a common 6-tube 3-band chassis with 6 pushbuttons (5 for preset stations, and one to select the manual dial tuning). Band coverage is 540-1550 kHz (BC), 1.5-3.5 MHz (police), and 6-18 MHz (SW).
