  • The Philco 655 is a Superheterodyne chassis with preselector RF amplifier and push-pull triode output of 10 watts, introduced in January 1936 with new models. It is a revised chassis 650 with other wave bands (without long wave). It has the 3 wave bands: short wave, Police/Aircraft/Amateur and "Standard" (broadcast). Wave bands are "normal broadcast" plus 1.75 to 5.8 and 5.75 to 18 mc.

    There are the following models: 655B, 655H, 655MX, 655PX, 655RX and 655X. For the Baby Grands the speaker is model K17 and for the "furniture models" speaker H13. For repairs please read first Rider's volume 8 changes 8-2 because there were alterations and there are errors in the schematics - for instance the tube layout shows a tube 85 instead 75 as second detector but in the schematic itself it is correct a 75. All 655 series models use a shadow meter as tuning indicator.
