  • Bemerkung
  • This was a prototype 405-line rear projection TV shown at the 1938 Radiolympia Show in London. Display size 14,5x18"

Television receiver designed by Mullard Labs (Mitcham, London), subsidiary of Philips. The rear projection system and HV-supply came from Philips Research (Eindhoven, The Netherlands). There was no advanced optical system; the output of the display tube was magnified and projected by a 45degree mirror on the projection screen.
Picture carrier IF 13,2MHz, sound IF 9,7MHz (had been 11,1 and 7,6 on the 1937 model).
    Picture tube anode voltage 25kV.

The set was identical to the demo model shown at the 1937 Radiolympia, apart from the higher IF and the addition of 3 gas-filled triode switches of unknown type, for protection of the picture tube in case of circuit failures. These three valves are not (yet) included in the valve count.

The radio was a standard radio Philips 785AX chassis mounted in the cabinet. The TV sound re-used the Pen4DD audio power amplifier of the radio, the television audio being connected to the radio pick-up player input.

The model was produced and sold in limited numbers.
