The frequency counter PM6645 enables direct counting of continuous-wave signals from 30Hz to 500MHz, at a 5mV sensitivity.
An automatic gain control provides a wide dynamic range and enables measurement of signals with high-noise levels. This circuit also eliminates manual control settings and obviates risk of false counting due to noise. Designed particulary for "frequency only" measurements, the PM6645 will find its main application in the field of communications.
A temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) provides a high measurement stability that can be further improved by the optional high-stability oscillator PM9680 (proportionally controlled oven oscillator).
All functions except the display time can be externally programmed by providing the counter with the optional remote control unit PM9683. Another optional accessory, the BCD output unit PM9682, provides a 4 line data output (code 8-4-2-1). Furthermore, a number of sub-units extends and improves the performance of the basic counter.
Hybrid thin-film circuits, especially designed for the PM6645, and both standard and high-speed TTL integrated circuits form the major portion of the circuitry. Good serviceability is further ensured by the use of plug-in connections wherever possible.
