Pilot Electric Manufacturing Company made and sold both DC (K-110) and AC (K-115) models of their Pilot Super Wasp shortwave regenerative receivers as kits between 1927 and 1931.
In the October 1929 issue of Radio Broadcast magazine, Pilot advertised that, "Special Notice to Owners of Battery operated Super-Wasps [K-110] Pilot engineers have not forgotten you! A few changes and a few extra parts prepare your present Super-Wasp for A.C. operation! [using the K-111] Your authorized Pilot Dealer will supply data sheet and full instructions without charge."
The AC Conversion Kit did not upgrade the DC K-110 to the AC K-115; it converted the DC K-110 to operate with the ABC Power Pack K-111 instead of batteries. The kit also upgraded the tubes, eliminated the need for the front panel filament rheostat control, added rear chassis 2.5 VAC filament binding posts, and made other circuit changes. The loudspeaker/headphone connections remain on the chassis rear binding posts, not a front panel jack as found on the K-115.
The 24 and 27 variant tubes were available starting in 1929, so this radio model could have been converted anytime after that date.
