  • Annotazioni
  • This radio was made at the Marrickville (Sydney NSW) factory of Pye Industries Ltd. It has a good quality leather shell over stiff cardboard backing. The circuit board and speaker mount onto an aluminium plate which is folded up on the sides and bottom to provide some physical protection for the speaker, ferrite rod antenna and circuit board. The power is provided by 4 AA Cells which mount between the folded up sides of the metal chassis. This is a more satisfactory arrangement than was often used in later radios where the plastic case took the strain of the battery holding spring or springs.

Being only a 6 transistor circuit drawing 0.013 Amps, this would be perfectly adequate for metropolitan listening but using it in remote localities would have been difficult.

There is one diode providing the AGC voltage but this is unmarked.

Tuning is by a "Handspan" dial (180 degrees) and the dial diameter is 3.5 inches.
