This low-cost "Bandchecker" absorption wavemeter is intended for checking that the multiplier stages of an amateur radio transmitter are tuned to the correct harmonics. The small hand-held device can be brought in proximity to the tuning coil of a stage, and resonance is indicated by a filament lamp.
Band selection is by a switch lever on the barrel of the instrument.
The following amateur bands are marked on the dial.
Range 1: 3.5 and 7 MHz bands
Range 2: 14 MHz band
Range 3: 21 and 28 MHz bands
