From Wikipedia: "The TRS-80 Model 1 from RadioShack was, along with the Apple II and the Commodore PET in 2001, one of the first home computers to be produced in significant numbers as finished copies. It came onto the market in 1977 and was equipped with a Z80 CPU Zilog, which ran at a clock frequency of 1.77 MHz. The TRS-80 had good sales success, particularly in the USA. 

Initially it only shipped with 4KB of RAM (which could be upgraded to 16KB within the keyboard). Typical for that time was the operating system stored in ROM in the form of BIOS and the integrated BASIC. With the help of an "Expansion Interface" it could be expanded by a further 32 KB of RAM, a floppy disk controller for up to four 5.25" drives as well as a serial and a parallel interface."

Aus Wikipedia: "Der TRS-80 Modell 1 von RadioShack gehörte neben dem Apple II und dem Commodore PET 2001 zu den ersten Heimcomputern, die in nennenswerten Stückzahlen als Fertigexemplare produziert wurden. Er kam 1977 auf den Markt und war mit einer Z80-CPU von Zilog ausgestattet, die mit 1,77 MHz Taktfrequenz lief. Der TRS-80 hatte besonders in den USA gute Verkaufserfolge. Der Neupreis betrug in Deutschland 3000 DM.

Zunächst wurde er nur mit 4 KB RAM (der innerhalb der Tastatur auf 16 KB aufgerüstet werden konnte) ausgeliefert. Typisch für die damalige Zeit war das im ROM gespeicherte Betriebssystem in Form des BIOS und das integrierte BASIC. Mit Hilfe eines "Expansion Interface"[1] ließ er sich um weitere 32 KB RAM, einen Diskettencontroller für bis zu vier 5,25"-Laufwerke sowie eine serielle und eine parallele Schnittstelle erweitern."
