  • Anotaciones
  • Radiospares sold a number of audio and mains transformers and chokes that were described as 'universal' because they were provided with several winding taps, allowing them to be used as replacements for a range of original components.

The 'Standard universal output transformer' is a small impregnated iron-cored output transformer for valved radio or television receivers that has taps to match output impedances from 4 to 16KΩ to loudspeaker speech coils of 2/3, 7 or 15Ω. The transformer was provided with a data sheet indicating the taps to be used for 12 recommended ratios from 15:1 to 128:1. Maximum DC primary current 40 mA. A warning indicated that the transformer should not be used without a secondary load.
