  • Remarques
  • The RCA Victor model 1-RA-60 is a small table model for broadcast only - for 540 to 1600 kc. It has a built in shielded loop antenna, called Filteramic by RCA Victor. The center is a conventional ferrite rod with a coil wound around it, but that assembly is set inside a glass tube with end caps. The glass tube has a thick black coating around the outside. There's a wire running lengthwise along and making contact with the coating. The coating and wire remind of the method used to charge up the coating on the outside of the picture tube of some TVs but here there is naturally not a positive charge, but an electrical connection between this wire, one end of the coil around the ferrite rod, and ground. Only the four 1-RA-6x models have it, the 1-RA-3x, 1-RA-4x, and 1-RA-5x models (four in each series) do not have it. Probably the same ferrite rod and coil antenna was used. The shield against the electrical field was just added for the 1-RA-6x models. It must be something like Graphite to have a high resistance for not act as a shorted turn, but still shielding the E-field. Compared to the other models, the two-gang tuning capacitor on the Filteramic models has slightly higher capacitance on the antenna section, slightly lower on the oscillator section. There is also a Filteramic clock radio C-4E and others - like one with two loudspeakers.
