Tunes 540-1720 kc. Can also be powered by 105-125V AC, 50-60 Hz by using an RCA model CV-42 "Electrifier".
Table model radio especially designed for consumers in rural areas. Equipped with a battery-saver switch, this battery radio is convertible to line power by plugging in the RCA Victor "electrifier" which automatically converts the set to 105-125 volt ac operation. When nearby stations are tuned in, switch provides instantaneous adjustment and cuts "B" battery drain.
The set has a three-position switch in addtion to the normal "On-Off" switch on the volume control. Power draw from the "B" battery with that switch on "Batt" is 14 mA. On "Batt Saver", a resistor changes the bias on the audio output tube resulting in a reduced draw of 10 mA. The third position, labeled "Full electric", is intended for use with the RCA CV-42 "Electrifier" which changes the filament power from 1.4 volts at 300 mA with the filaments in parallel to 8.4 volts at 50 mA with the filaments in series. Note that the CV-42 "Electrifier" is a transformerless design that connects the chassis to one side of the power line and is thus inherently dangerous.
