The Ravensbrook Stereo Amplifier Series 3 builds upon the success of its predecessors, the Series 1 and 2 amplifiers, offering several key improvements and new features:
Power and Connectivity
- Increased Output: Uprated to 20 Watts per channel
- AC Outlet: New provision of an AC outlet facility
Input and Output Options
- Multiple Inputs: Disc, radio, and tape inputs provided
- Versatile Disc Input: Four-disc sensitivities to accommodate a wide range of high-quality pickup cartridges, including those with very low output
- Tape Connectivity: DIN socket for tape replay and record, duplicated at the rear of the chassis via a second DIN socket
- Tape Monitoring: Possible with tape recorders having separate replay heads
Advanced Controls
- Volume Control: Close tolerance ganged volume control matched to 1 dB
- Tone Controls: Wide-range bass and treble controls using a modified Baxendall circuit
- Balance: Vernier balance control for precise stereo imaging
- Filters: Switched high pass filter and a variable "slope" low pass filter
Transistor technology
- the amplifier uses driver transformers, which are quadrifilar wound, similar to those used in the Ravensbourne amp
- Silicon transistors are used throughout.
