The Orpheus DX-plorer main chassis has 8 tubes. Flipping a switch turns on the seperate 2 tube shortwave chassis. The shortwave controls can be hidden by closing two small doors on the front of the cabinet. Pulling the shortwave chassis forward through the open doors allows access to change the plug-in coils to listen to a different shortwave band. The brochure specifies it can receive a range of 15 to 600 meters.
The brochure also explains that television is almost a practical reality that it is broadcast on shortwave bands only. It says that the time is almost here when you could you could plug a television into this set. This is a "Radio of Tomorrow".
