- Remarques
-
The post war Silvertone models 7004 in Walnut, 7006 in Ivory and 7008 in Onyx were still called "Commentator", but the last of its series. They are the same cabinets but in different colors. Each of them was made with at least 4 slightly different chassis 132.812 ... (Manual is 57RL346). According to Rider's schematic from July 7, 1941, some (-1 and -3) have a electromagnetic moving coil speaker (speaker field coil) with a changed R4.
This "Candy Cane" Sears model family "Commentator" was made by Noblitt-Sparks (Arvin) and started in 1939 with the models 3311 in Walnut, 3411 in Ivory and 3511 in Onyx. Then followed type Silvertone 3351 in Walnut, 3451 in Ivory and 3551 in Onyx. The same name "Commentator" was also used by the post war Silvertone 7004 (Walnut), 7006 (Ivory) and 7008 (Onyx) with chassis 132.812-1 etc., with single ended tubes like 12SA7GT, but the same cabinet. All show the "push down" or "piano key" "instamatic" buttons, not ordinary "push buttons". The set would be pushed away with ordinary push buttons. All have the same drift problems. See here for details and summaries about this model family.
