  • Anotaciones
  • After having mechanical problems with its first jukebox offering, the Selectophone of 1934-35, Seeburg presented a new and more practical group of jukeboxes in 1936, called the Symphonola series. These jukeboxes featured the horizontal "sliding tray" mechanism which Seeburg continued to offer until 1948, when they debuted the new and more familiar vertical Selectomatic player mechanism seen in their 45 RPM jukeboxes.

The Symphonola series included Models A "Standard", B, C & D "Modernistic", and S "Super Deluxe", all enclosed in dramatically styled Art Deco cabinets. The Model A was the base model of the series and featured a beautiful and compact cabinet (available in either walnut, Nile green and Mandarin red finish) housing a 12-select "sliding tray" player mechanism and 5-tube "High Fidelity" sound system playing through a 12-inch Jensen electrodynamic speaker. A single coin slide accepted either nickles or dimes, offering the customary one play for each 5 cents.

The Symphonola series represented Seeburg's first practical jukebox offerings and are highly collectible due to their magnificently styled Art Deco cabinetry.
