The Silver model 139 JS "To-Na-Coustic" is a TRF (not superhet) in two-tone Walnut finish, the model 139-I in antique Ivory finish for $ 1.50 extra.
The Silver Folder 1937 for season 1936/37 shows as name model 139 JS- "T.R.F.", the Silver Folder 1938 for Season 1937/38 names it "Walnut" and "To-Na-Coustic" - featured together with models 149 "Cele", 146 "Sylvia" and J-6 "Jemm". The year before it was shown with model 296W "Diana".
This radio is made by Clinton Mfg. Co. of Chicago as indicated by the orange license label with "Plant A, Chicago". The Clinton model 139 uses a very similar cabinet but is a 5 tube super-hetrodyne design rather than a TRF.
The schematic for this radio is similar to Clinton TRF models 185 and 195.
