  • Just as Sony had developed one of the first  "shirt pocket" transistor radios in the 1950s in the form of the TR-63, and later the iconic Walkman in the seventies, their ICR-501 "AM Card" broadcast band radio launched in 1985 was one of the first sets to model the ISO standard 86mm x 56mm credit card format as a fully functional personal radio.

    It would lead to a series of other "Credit Card" Sony sets including the AM/FM 600 models and concluding in the mid two thousands with the single SRF-220 FM Stereo/AM Card radio. 

    Battery CR2032H (3V) average life of 200 hours using a battery saver circuit  (BSIC) and auto power off.
