  • The General Electric Citizen Band Transceiver for 40 Channels model 3-5800A was made in Japan. At least in the USA it was sold in a hard plastic case. It has no battery case or internal battery but is for the use in a car or with a separate power input.

In 1948, the original CB radios were designed for operation on the 460–470 MHz UHF band, Class "A" and "B". This was not rally affordable by the public. On September 11, 1958 the Class D CB service was created on 27 MHz (11 meters). There were 23 CB channels first. At least in the U.S., the 40-channel band plan was implemented in 1977.
