Early "Home Talking Movies" set (Movie, Radio Phonograph Combination) Visionola, introduced by Visionola Mfg. Corp., 60 East 42nd Street, New York, sold by Sparton (Sparks-Withington Co.). In February 1931 the model was featured by "Radio News". This was similar to Visivox from Sprague. Push-pull audio amplifier. Details can be read in "Radio News", February 1931 under "Radio points the way to Home Talking Movies". Similar is the Sprague Visavox. From each, only a few are left. See pictures at agassiztrading.com.
Actually the system was developed in 1930 by using the new tube UY235, together with the 551 the first variable-mu tube. One has to know that tube manufacturers sent out new tubes for designing new circuits many months before the actual release, which was here June 1931 for the UY235. Therefore the model could not be on the market before, but advertised yes ...
