AM/CW-Empfänger mit zuschaltbarem Quarzfilter, 200 - 500 kHz, 1,5 - 18 MHz in sechs Bereichen. Anodenspannungserzeugung durch eingebauten Einanker-Umformer. Glimmstabilisator RCA 991.
Benötigt hochohmigen LS bzw. KH. Modell ist originärer BC-348, der für westdeutsche Polizei und Bundesgrenzschutz überarbeitet wurde (helle Lackierung (meist hellblau/grau).
Typenschild sowie Beschriftung innen/außen in deutsch, Kondensatoren, Widerstände und Poti's u.a. teilweise auch von ERO und Preh, deutscher Schaltplan (oft findet sich im inneren auch das originale US-Typenschild)).
Leicht unterschiedliche Ausführungen. Es gab auch ein Modell E-348-B für 24 Volt Stromversorgung. Weiterhin konnte optional anstelle des Umformers auch ein Netzteil für stationären Betrieb eingesetzt werden (zusätzliche Gleichrichterröhre 6X4). Siehe auch E-348-B und sowie US-Modell BC-348. Später oft in Amateurfunkstellen im Einsatz.

AM / CW receiver with selectable crystal filters, 200-500 kHz, 1,5 - 18 MHz in six ranges. Anode (plate) voltage is generated by a built-in dynamotor converter. A voltage stabilizer tube RCA type 991 is used as well.
Requires high-impedance loudspeaker or earphone. The original model is the US- military receiver BC-348, which was modified for the West German police and border patrol with usually light blue or grey varnishing.
Nameplates and label inside and outside in German, capacitors, resistors and potentiometers among others are partly by ERO and Preh, with German wiring diagram. The original U.S. nameplate is often found inside.

There was also a model E-348-B for 24 volt power supply. Furthermore an optionally power supply for stationary operation could be used (with additional rectifier tube 6X4) instead of the dynamotor converter. See also E-348-B as well as U.S. model BC-348.The receiver was later often used in amateur radio stations.
Together with the S-191 and AS-6 units it was component of the system FuG 4 for radio squad car M.

Verbastelt, da Meßinstument an Stelle des Reglers für die Skalenbeleuchtung eingebaut (dafür großes Loch in Frontplatte nötig). Diverse Lüftungslöcher in Gehäuse gebohrt. Außerdem Lackierung Gehäuse vs. Knöpfe unstimmig. Daher wohl eher zum Schlachten geeignet. Gerätenummer 465. Siehe Ebay 130315486866
