• Remarques

• The Sterling 55A was the most powerful spark transmitter used in WW1 and was used on long range patrol aircraft and night bombers used on long range patrol aircraft.

  The input to the spark transmitter was from a 2kW alternator which could alternatively feed the transmitter or a searchlight. See the schematic. The exciter, alternator and synchronised spark gap were all on the same shaft driven though gearing from the engine of the aircraft.

  The wavelength could be set between 150 to 600 metres by plug connections on a closed circuit inductance. The working range was 500km
