  • This is the foundation panel of a three-panel system that consists of a bakelite panel raised on four brass legs, a Polar variable capacitor mounted underneath the panel with a Polar dial on the top side of the panel, one 4-pin socket for a 4-pin plug-in "Big Ben" bakelite and glass enclosed galena crystal detector, with two 2-pin sockets on each side for plug-in "Gambrell Brothers" inductance coils or a bypass plug.  

    Brass binding posts on all sides except the front.  All metal hardware is gold lacquered.  The "Big Ben" logo and "No 1" are engraved into the top of the panel, also the "Big Ben" logo is engraved into the top of the crystal detector.
