  • Deco cabinet, hinged front door, removable tuning mechanism for wired remote control. Push-pull audio amplifier. There is also model 56 w/o remote. The Stromberg-Carlson model 56-R is an 8 tube, AC operated BC band receiver with push-pull output stage and consists of two units. The remote selector unit contains the RF amplifier(78) and oscillator/mixer(6A7) tubes. The speaker amplifier unit contains the IF amplifier(58), demodulator(55), AVC(2B7), audio amplifier(Qty 2 - 2A5), power supply(80) tubes and speaker. The two units are connected with a multi-conductor flat cable. Has Deco cabinet with hinged front doors. There is also a model 56 without the remote. The model was available with either a 50-60Hz power supply or a 25-60Hz power supply, but there is no difference in model name.

    Stromberg-Carlson datasheet 23982 - Re-issued 5/5/37 references the rectifier tube as an 80 tube in some places and as a 5Z3 tube in other places.

    Stromberg-Carlson datasheet 23982 - Re-issued 5/5/37 does not list a model 56-R, but instead lists model 55 as having the remote control unit. An advertisement on Page 2 of the January 1934 issue of Radio retailing magazine mentions this model, and shows the price for it, but there is no photograph.
