The Superior Electric Powerstat 10B is a panel-mounted variable autotransformer with an input of 120VAC and variable output of 0-120 (if operated at 50 Hz) and 0-120 or 0-132 if operated at 60 Hz. Current rating is 2.25 A. Like similar devices often called Variacs, the VT-2 has a toroid core and a single winding. These exposed units would normally be built into other equipment such as power supplies.
