  • Anotaciones
  • After a high-fidelity radiogram enquiry from a Tasma Customer, John Hollaway & Sons of Ballarat Victoria, Fred Thom decided to manufacture a custom-built radiogram with no equal in Australia.

At least one Model 270 high fidelity radiogram was known to be built and displayed at the Tasma Stand at the April 1935 Radio Exhibition in the Sydney Townhall.

The 9 valve radio consists of a radio receiver/amplifier main chassis and a separate power supply chassis. The chassis is stove enamelled brown.

The speaker is mounted at the top of a Beale Senior cabinet which stands 5’9” high. The two-speed gramophone is mounted under the speaker along with the remote tuning and volume controls.

The heavy power supply, amplifier and receiver are mounted in the bottom of the cabinet.

The specification states it uses a 12”, high fidelity speaker however the description in The Land, April 5, 1935 states it has twin speakers at head height.

Information above, from Tasma letters and photos from the John McIlwaine collection.
