• The TEF6686 Silver Metal Case Full Band FM-MW-SW-LW radio is one of many commercial and DIY projects, based on the original Open Source project owned by  Sjef Verhoeven  (PE5PVB). Several firmware variants exists, most forked from the original PE5PVB project at GitHub.

  Brief technical details

  This radio is based on a TEF6686-F8602 DSP chip by NXP, managed by a ESP32-WROOM-32U Module by ESPRESSIF for management and WIFI/BT support. A non identified VLSI chip is hidden behind the CL32BC1018-40A Color LCD. The later uses a 40-pin interconnect cable and is probably using the common ILI9341 driver chip.

  A AYK/TPA6211A1 3.1W Mono Fully Differential Audio Power Amplifier chip by TI drives the 4 Ohm speaker. The earphones jack is driven by a AIF/MAX97220A Differential Input DirectDrive Headphone Amplifier chip by MAXIM.

  Additional active devices are used, like a DE=911/RT9193-33PB 3.3V LDO by RICHTEK dedicated to the NXP Tuner chip, two more DE=911/RT9193-33PB chips for the ESPRESSIF chip, a TP4056 battery charger, a 340EB39/CH340E USB-Serial by WCH, and a 3Y/S8050 NPN transistor.
