  • The 1954 UK Radio show catalogue: "A battery operated table model designed especially for those who live 'beyond the Grid'".

    Basically the CN421 cabinet (restyled) and the CN421 chassis using parallel filament wiring with mains PSU parts omitted. Using 25mA rather than 50mA tubes, though even the similar but later battery/mains CN427 and battery/mains CN431 still used 50mA tubes (also similar chassis, but different tuning scale). The battery / mains versions probably have higher audio output power.

    The batteries may last over 200 hours, L5041 high capacity LT pack and L5039 high capacity HT pack.

    Frame / loop aerial with external aerial/earth sockets for poor reception areas.
