  Two alternate sets of batteries:

  HT lightweight: L5512 (Ever Ready B126) 3 pins or Heavy Duty L5039 (Ever Ready Portable 61) though the "heavy duty" type is a different connection (two wander plugs). The Service sheet shows the 3 pin connector  "docked"

  LT lightwieght:  L5048 (Ever Ready AD38) or Heavy Duty L5058 (Ever Ready AD42)

  While the main part of the case sides are steel with a "Rexine" style plasic coated cloth, the lid is of course plywood/hardboard (with same covering) to allow the loop aerial to function.

  The Export version replaces Longwave with Shortwave as was common on UK export models of many Brands.

  To open lid: Press down on the two metal plates on the edge beside leather handle.

  To replace batteries etc: Open the base.
