  • The V-M Corp Model 165 is an AC operated 2 Tube Phono Amplifier plus one tube as power rectifier. It is called "Amplified Extension Speaker". There is a tube based amplifier in the loudspeaker 165. The label of it says "to replace tubes remove this cover". Guest Paul Thomas wrote us: "... shows the three knobs, which are on the side of the speaker. The top knob turns the amplifier on and off, and also controls the treble, the middle knob controls bass, and the bottom knob controls volume. Under the knobs you see two inputs, one saying "Microphone", which is where I used to plug in my guitar, and the other saying "Phono", which looks like the size of an RCA jack. I've never used that one."

The Photofact date 12-58, set 423, folder 23 shows the following models for the same schematic: V-M Models: 165, 166, 166A, 8809 and 8810. There is one picture but some of those models (like this one) look quite different. It is not given which model the picture represents - but here we have true pictures of model 165.
