- The design of 9N-4 and 6N-1 broadcast receivers was a team effort of RCA engineers of Camden, NJ, and Soviet visitors to the USA in 1936-37. The prototype for 9N-4 was RCA 9T desktop model of 1936. Production of 9N-4 started in 1939 at "Elektrosignal" Radio Works in Voronezh, USSR, as screw driving assembly of components supplied by RCA. The total number of 9N-4 receivers produced before June, 1941, was around 2000 pieces only. Russian spelling of 9N-4 is "9H-4".
