  • Notes
  • The Zenith 5G500 "Universal" is a three-way portable (AC-DC line or batteries) that also came in several variations with different cover material identifiable with a letter appended to 5G500.  This model 5G500 has no appended letter.  Its covering is "airplane style" impregnated cloth material similar to canvas.  Zenith advertised it heavily based on its patented movable "Wavemagnet" loop antenna.  A second patent referred to the hinges allowing swing movement of the suction-cup-to-window attached Wavemagnet. Graphics from the patents show a radio model that resembles the Universal 5G500.  The Universal with its wavemagnet is the historical forerunner of the famous Zenith Transoceanic series.
