  • Rev. D variant adds a 50A1 thermal current regulator to the tube lineup that would become the standard on the later 600 series Trans-Oceanic. A 9 pin socket has been provided on the chassis which allows use of the 50A1, but the set was also supplied with a jumper which would allow use of a power resistor contained under the chassis without the regulating ability provided by the tube.

    Some have suggested that this set was constructed from chassis leftover from production of the R-520/URR military reciever, however the chassis of these sets differ in a lack of markings and other features found on the R-520/URR.
