  • Remarques
  • The Baltic RM 3 frame aerial has two separate windings for different wavelength ranges. The outer winding has 11 turns and is used for the range 430 kHz to 1240 kHz. For longer wavelengths, this winding is connected in series with the inner winding of 39 turns, to give a total of 50 turns and coverage from about 170 kHz to 490 kHz.

The double winding distinguishes the RM 3 from the RM 2 model, which has only the smaller winding and must be used in conjunction with a separate coil of 150 or 200 turns to cover the longer wavelength range. This allows the RM 2 aerial to be tuned from 125 kHz to 350 kHz, but the sensitivity is lower than with the RM 3.

In either case, Baltic recommended adding an external aerial for the reception of weak stations, although this does degrade the selectivity somewhat.
