  • Remarques
  • Ducretet & Roger WWI Oil Break Spark Key. The key was designed to be used in the explosive environment found onboard an aircraft. The keying contacts are immeresed in a little cup of oil in the base of the key thus making this a "flame proof" key. The key was called an Oil Break key because the "Make or Break" contact happened in oil. The oil also helped radiate heat away from the contacts and helped to minimize arcing of the contacts therefore proloning their life.

The holes drilled in the lever also indicate this key was designed for use on an aircraft. The holes were drilled to lighten the weight of the key on the aircraft where payload was big concern.
