Radio Set SCR-274-N is a multi-channel aircraft radio receiving and transmitting equipment.
Used for aircraft to aircraft communication, aircraft to ground, but not for aircraft to base or liasion.
Receiving components are Radio Receivers BC-453-(x) 190-550 kHz, BC-946-(x) 520-1500 kHz, BC-454-(x) 3,0-6,0 mHz, BC-455-(x) 6,0-9,1 mHz; Dynamotor DM-32-(x) and several radio control boxes; racks, mountings and cordage. Frequency tuning is local or remote by use of suitable adaptors and tuning controls. ( e.g. to handle 3 channels one could switch between 3 receivers)
Transmitting components are Radio Transmitter BC-696-(x) 3,0-4,0 mHz, BC 457-(x) 4,0-5,3 mHz, BC-458-(x) 5,3-7,0 mHz, BC-459-(x) 7,0-9,1 mHz; Dynamotor DM-33-(x); Modulator unit BC-456-(x); Control box BC-451(x); Antenna relay unit BC-442-(x).
A newer and enhanced version of this equipment is AN/ARC-5.
