  • Annotazioni
  • The Square D 5008 is a Wigginton type solenoid voltage tester.   It uses a spring-loaded solenoid core with an attached red a pointer that moved up and down along the voltage scales on each side of the tester.  The top of the tester has a small permanent magnet rotor.  When measuring DC, this magnet flips one way or the other indicating by color (red or black) which lead of the voltmeter is positive. When measuring AC, the rotor simply vibrates indicating that the meter is connected to AC.  The polarity cap can be removed by unscrewing it.  With the cap removed, the spring loaded metal solenoid core can be easily depressed with a pencil, moving the red indicator down the scales.

The voltage probes are stored in holes on each side of the tester’s bottom.  The probe tips have spring loaded plastic covers that retract when pressed in tight deep hole such as an AC electrical outlet.
